Chilean false red mite

Brevipalpus chilensis

Chilean false red mite (Brevipalpus chilensis) is a mite of citrus fruits and grapes. It is a native of Chile and was first detected in 1949.

This arthropod can be a pest of many soft fruits. Cold storage treatments during fruit movement can destroy the pest.
