Goldspotted oak borer (Agrilus auroguttatus) is an insect pest of oak trees. It is a native of Mexico and Guatemala and was first detected in Arizona in late 1800's.
Although previously observed in Arizona, this borer beetle was not seen as a destructive pest until 2008 when it was associated with dieback affecting many oak trees in California. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
