European crane fly

Tipula paludosa

European crane fly (Tipula paludosa) is an insect pest of Grasses. It is a native of Europe and was first detected in Virginia in 1987.

These species are a concern when they feed on the roots of turf or other commercially important plants. Certain crane flies can be especially damaging to newly planted grass.
