Birdsfoot trefoil

Lotus corniculatus

Birdsfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) is an invasive plant of Eurasia and Africa. It was first detected in Lake Superior in 1975.

This plant forms dense mats which choke out and shade native vegetation. One study reported that suspected photosensitization occurred in lambs grazing on this weed.
