Black spruce beetle

Tetropium castaneum

Black spruce beetle (Tetropium castaneum) is an insect pest of spruce and pine. It is a native of Europe and was first detected in Oregon in 2000.

Often found in solid wood packing materials. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!

For more information about this plant pest, see the CAPS data sheet.
